Pool Valve Actuators
Working with Valve Actuators
Many automated pool systems have valves with actuators. DO NOT attempt to change the position of the valves by hand.
There is usually a little switch on the back of the actuator that will change the position of the valve. Just make sure that you leave it in the right position when
you leave the pool, or you may end up draining the spa.

The valve actuator sets on top of the Jandy valve. There are four long screws that go through the actuator and into
the screw holes on the Jandy valve. The handle on the Jandy valve actually goes on top of the actuator, once the actuator in installed.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN THE VALVE HANDLE ON TOP OF THE ACTUATOR. THERE ARE GEARS INSIDE THE ACTUATOR
THAT CAN BE EASILY STRIPPED OUT AND WILL REQUIRE A NEW ACTUATOR AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $250.00.

To change the position of the valve, use the small toggle switch that is on the back of the valve. There are two on positions and one
off position. ON 1 is the opposite position as ON 2. If you switch this valve, be certain to switch it back to the original position. If the valve
actuator is left in the OFF position, then the control system will not be able to move the valve.
There are cams inside the valve actuator that set the positions of the valve in ON 1 and ON 2. To access these cam settings, remove
the four small screws in the top cap of the actuator. Remove the cover and observe how the cams work. If you are unsure of what you are doing, consult with
a pool professional.
