cartridge for your pool or spa filter can be rather confusing. After all, we
offer more than 500 different filter cartridges at POOLplaza.com. We have
come up with several ways to find the right cartridge for your pool or spa filter.
Once you have found the right
cartridge, double check the dimensions and other specifications to make sure
you have the right one.

do I choose the right cartridge?

Once you have found the right
filter cartridge, it's very important to check the dimensions and design
specifications of the cartridge carefully to make sure you have the right one. If

| METHOD 1: Locate by FILTER BRAND and MODEL NUMBER |

The
first way to find the right cartridge is to identify it by the brand and
model number of your filter. Find the brand name of your
filter and click on the name to look at all the known filter types under
that brand name.
Once you have found
the right filter cartridge, check the dimensions and design
specifications of the cartridge carefully to make sure you have the right

| METHOD
2: Locate by FILTER CARTRIDGE DIMENSIONS AND DESIGN |
|
If you do not know the model number of your filter, or cannot find
the name in the lists above, then measure the old cartridge and search by dimensions. 
STEP ONE: Measure the
outside diameter of the cartridge (in inches, +/- 1/32").
STEP TWO: Measure the cartridge length (in
inches, +/- 1/16) including end caps but excluding any handles or
other extensions. Unicel recommends measuring through the center (if possible)
rather than along the outside edge.
STEP THREE: Identify the
cartridge outside edge end cap configuration using the photograph chart below.
If the top and/or bottom is "open," measure the inside diameter (in
inches, +/- 1/32) of the top and/or bottom. Click here to view photos of the end cap designs
STEP FOUR Count the number of pleats (+/-
2), and note whether there is a center core or not.
The information gathered in steps 1-4 above can then
be used to identify a proper replacement.
Unicel cartridges are grouped into series based on the
approximate outside diameter (O.D.) of the cartridge. For example, the 2000
Series is comprised of cartridges between 2 and 2.99 inches in outer diameter;
the 9000 Series is comprised of cartridges with an outer diameter of 9 inches
or greater.
Note that if the cartridge length is either 4-15/16 or
6-15/16 it may be necessary to check the next larger series, the 5000 Series
and 7000 Series, respectively. Within each series, cartridges are listed
sequentially by O.D. and cartridge length and identified according to end cap
I.D. (inside diameter) and configuration, pleat count, media, and respective
OEM.

Enter the UNICEL cartridge number in the Quick Index
box (remember to include the dashes).
PLEATCO CARTRIDGE NUMBER
Go to the Pleatco Reference Tables and look for the Unicel cartridge
that matches.
