The Raypak by Rheem Digital Low NOx heater is smart not only in appearance but also in features.   Raypak does one thing and does it well, boilers and heaters.   Their attention to detail shows in the design features of this product, and particularly in their self diagnostic controls.

You might ask "Why would a really dependable heater need self-diagnostics?"

Its pretty simple . . . if somebody (NOT YOU, of course) forgets to backwash the filter, it will prompt you about low flow that is keeping the heater from coming on.  Or perhaps you are pushing the controls on the front of the heater and wondering why it won't respond, and then you notice the reminder that it is being controlled by your pool's electronic control system (oops).

The heater uses capron headers instead of cast iron headers.  The headers are where the water goes in and out of the heater.  If you have cast iron, and the rust goes back to the pool . . . oops, unsightly stains.  The unions on the header make the installation and service easier as well.

The digital controls are very easy to use and quite helpful.  They definitely beat trying to set those old knobs on the heater to come to a specific temperature.  With this one, you set it to the exact temperature and swim.  They are also compatible with most major pool control systems on the market today.

Another great feature about this heater is the water flow characteristics.  The unatherm governor insures that the temperature inside the heat exchanger stays within certain ranges to prevent harmful acidic condensation within the heater.  The heater also features stainless steel burner, fan induced combustion and a spark ignition.  Spark ignition is the most dependable type of ignitor out there and requires repair less often than the glow plug type of ignitors most heaters are using today.

This heater is available in standard copper fin tube, ASME copper fin tube and Cupro-Nickel fin tube.  The latter two are offered at an additional cost.
